The 2006-2007 school year at OCSI is almost over and we are both ample with mixed emotions. Imagine being brought to a new culture, newly married, new kids to teach, everything is NEW. Sounds crazy right? Not if you know the right person.
Looking back we are so thankful of what God has allowed us to do. Being able to grow as a family was the most important part of this journey. Robyn and I are extremely blessed to be a world away with time to learn, love, and enjoy each other.
This school has impacted us in so many amazing ways. The teachers we have met are amazing, some of them are best friends, some are like grandparents, some are curious, and some just plane fun. We love the team God has put together to progress us through this school year.
The culture is amazing and so pure with kindness. It took a while to get used to, I must say, being from New York. Being able to leave my keys somewhere or camera somewhere and know it would be in the same place when I got back. We used to lock our doors out of habit but now it's just a waste of time for us both. Imagine how much time we loose locking and unlocking doors. People here for the most part have a genuine respect for others, period.
The kids, wow! From 2nd grade to the graduates they are just fun, unique, and God loving people. And the students who don't love God are receiving Gods love through teachers and students. I have learned so much from them over this year. It is humbling to see such wisdom being carried around by students. We have both had the opportunity to teach, listen, grow, and pray with these students and it is simply awesome.
A few days ago we saw 23 students cross a stage and receive there diplomas. It's a nice feeling to know that these kids are our future. It's nice to know that I will see most (hopefully all) of these kids again one day and we will be able to live in God's perfect harmony. Hey, you never know if we will all be at Gods place with flip flops on feeling like we all just graduated from the biggest school of life. As for the one below, she sure hopes so.

I want you to feel content in knowing that those feet are totally committed to God.
Thank you God for giving us such humble people that support us in Okinawa. You know who you are and we certainly thank God every night for your prayers and support.
