Quote 6: Intelligence

"The ability to focus attention on important things is a defining characteristic of intelligence."
Robert J. Schiller

How often these days do I find myself off task doing something, that is really nothing.  I can spend an hour on the web going down a maze of rabbit trails that strays far from what I originally intended to do (check my e-mail).  I don't know what it is about me that causes my brain to want to do everything but what's important, but it is downright wrong. I read somewhere that you should always have a goal when going into something or else you'll flounder and waste bucket loads of precious time.  I find this very true, when I have a goal I stick to the task and get it done.  The great thing about the whole process is that you feel 10x better when you finish something productive then when you finish something that's worth nothing.

Quote 5: Providence

"Providence has hidden a charm in difficult undertakings which is appreciated only by those who dare to grapple with them."
Anne-Sophie Swetchine

Anyone who has been through a difficult time or taken on something more then they thought they could do knows that it's totally worth it.  It's always dark and bitter while trudging through the middle ground of a tough event but how then could you be rewarded for something that took no tenacity or effort.  How do we expect to gain something when we don't expect to loose something first?

Quote 4: Easy does it

"Nothing is easy to the unwilling."
Nikki Giovanni

I think this quote is saying it will always seem hard if you don't want to do what is asked of you.  How true this is, how many times do I make things difficult simply because of my attitude and unwillingness to tackle the problem with a positive view.
